UHL Records Highest Ever Overcrowding Figures In 2017

University Hospital Limerick registered its highest ever overcrowding figures in 2017.

An INMO analysis of its daily trolleywatch statistics shows a total of 8,869 patients on trolleys at Dooradoyle throughout last year.

This is up nearly 10% on the previous year, and is more than 2,000 higher than at any other hospital in the country.

Last year’s opening of a new Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick was followed by even greater attandances at what was already the busiest emergency department in the country.
