An East Clare farmer has received a suspended jail term after he was convicted of the theft of cattle from his neighbour.
42-year-old Padraig O’Brien of Maghereigh, Mountshannon received the suspended three year jail term for stealing 15 animals from his 74 year old neighbour John Ford.
The court has already heard that Mr. O’Brien is being shunned in his local community since his offences came to light.
Judge Gerald Keys said this was one of the reasons that he decided to suspend the prison sentence, along with O’Brien’s previous clean record.
