Morning Focus Monday 30th July

On Mondays Morning Focus John began by speaking to Jim Enright Cratloe Post Office Action Group PRO as the Action Group says it's reasonably confident of retaining the village's service.   Activists met with management on Friday to discuss a review that is underway due to what the company describes as a vacant contract.  It's understood An Post isn't happy with the number of people currently using the facility in Cratloe.  A decision will be made in three weeks and PRO Jim Enright says they're quietly confident.

Up next John spoke to Joe Russell, General Manager of Trump International Golf Links Ireland, as Donald Trump pent his second weekend in Clare.  Ireland's most famous golf club owner spent 2 days inspecting the progress at Trump International Golf Links Ireland over the course of two days.  He was in Europe on business and decided to visit the Clare property and courses in Scotland before heading back stateside.

Morning Focus listener Ruth Gilhool got in touch as this Friday and Saturday just gone, she fell for lines given by some con artists who gave her a price to fix some of the tiles and shingles that had blown down in the Winter storms we had.  The men travelled in a royal blue Ford Transit Van. There were three men in the truck.  They removed 41 roof tiles, each 18" X 12" from the roof leaving part of the attic open to the elements. Then told Ruth an outrageous price which was over 6 times the amount quoted yesterday. She borrowed from a neighbour and thought the job would be done today but then told they couldn't do anything until she came up with an additional €1000 they wanted today to get materials to finish the job. They left and have not been seen again. The roof is now open to the elements.
