On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by retired Bishop of Killaloe Dr. Willie Walsh

He gave his thoughts on Christmas as well as memories of the festive season from his childhood and also spoke about enjoying his retirement.

Adrian Kelly, Chief Fire Officer with the Clare Fire Service, was in studio to urge members of the public to put fire safety at the top of their Christmas lists this year
The annual campaign comes as the Fire Service confirmed that Brigades throughout Clare were mobilised to 48 incidents during the 2011 Christmas period, representing a second successive drop in festive fire callouts since 2009.

Wine expert Ralph Parkes, Director of Fine Wines, joined John in studio to discuss what wines are great accompaniments to Christmas dinner, from the perfect starter wines, wines made for turkey and ham and dessert wines to compliment your mince pudding this Christmas Day
He also gave our listeners a crash course in wine tasting!

The Celtic Tenors are in Clarecastle this evening for a special concert in St. Peter and St Paul’s Church at 8pm – to raise funds for Clare branch of the Samaritans and Clarecastle District Daycare Centre

The guys have just come back from touring China, Germany and the US since September- they will also be releasing their album Feels Like Home in Australia and New Zealand in the new year
